Audition
A man auditions for a role in a commercial, it doesn’t go as he planned.
Glenn Maxwell is a young filmmaker from Austin, TX. Although originally born in Las Vegas, Glenn has called Texas home for a decade and has recently finished his first non-student short film, Confrontation. He graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Media Arts and has been working as a Camera Prep Technician at MPS Studios Austin while creating short films in his free time.
I’ve found myself always drawn to an actor’s lifestyle of dealing with constant rejection before going back out to do it all again, it’s something I believe most people in production don’t think about often. This short film was my exploration into that world of an actor putting it all into an audition, failing, and pushing forward with their dream.
This project is also my first attempt at comedy, something I feared tackling for a long time. I was scared that the jokes weren’t clear or funny enough while writing and even filming. I can say after finishing editing I am incredibly proud of Audition, this is my favorite project I’ve done yet and hope you enjoy it as well!
