ROAD 190
From his cell at Livingston Prison in Texas, Mabry, a death row inmate fighting for his life, reflects on the sixty kilometers of Road 190 — the route that connects the prison to the execution chamber in Huntsville. Along this road live and work those whose daily lives are shaped by the omnipresence of the carceral system: a former sheriff, a fisherman, a pastor, a taxidermist. Road 190 gives voice to these figures to explore human ambivalence in a territory where living alongside death has become ordinary.
