I have been an actor for over 30 years. I have performed many strong female roles during that time, often as a survivor. The vast majority of stories are by men, for men and starring predominantly men. Women deserve a larger place at that table. My goal with this story is to highlight that abuse comes in many forms – some of which, though subtle, have an impact. Most women have been told over their lifetime that they are ‘overreacting’. The truth is that these small moments become a kind of psychological warfare that keeps women from experiencing their lives wholly. And everyone suffers as a result.
