Director Statement

The script for Killin’ Jim Kelly spoke to me because it’s a story about real people who lived in the harsh realities of the old west. His story, as well as those around him like Print Olive and Doc Holliday is a true Texas tale that needed to be told. The blend of fact and fiction woven together by Gerald Jones gives us a glimpse at what life was like in 1870’s Texas. The story of black cowboys is seldom told so I was happy to bring this one to life. Being a Texas story, it was important that we filmed it on location in the great state of Texas. We hope you enjoy .
