Director Statement

Growing up, I was quiet and shy kid, and I’ve always wonder what made me reserved in the first place. I realized it has to do with anxiety I feel and also the world we live in where everybody can be judgmental of one another. I sometimes imagine the worst of what will happen when I’m thrown into the spotlight, when I’m interacting with others, or when I’m in other social situations.

That was when the idea for The Intrusive Thoughts of an Introverted Teen came to be. Using my love for coming-of-age, dramedy, and personal experiences, I wanted to create a short featuring a shy teen as the lead, and visually show the thoughts that the protagonist has running through her head as she navigates high school. I also want the audience to put themselves in her shoes, and sympathize with the protagonist who is struggling internally in a situation we all dread… public speaking.
