The Sock
Following a high-profile robbery, Detective Whalen finally finds the culprit he’s been chasing…or so he thinks.
Starting with small documentary productions in small town Massachusetts, Samuel Gassaway has had an impressive start to his short film career since moving to Texas. With his most recent film: 6 MINUTES: FOR A LIFETIME OF HONOR, he told the story of the men and women who conduct military funeral honors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His film won the state championship for 5A Documentary at the UIL Young Filmmakers Awards in Austin, TX, went on to the finals at the All American High School Film Festival in New York City, and won the student film category at the Fort Smith International Film Festival in Fort Smith, AR. Samuel Gassaway now studies Film and Digital Media at Baylor University.
I was inspired to tell an interrogation story after an experience that I had in my forensic science class in high school. One day, we had a q&a with a Fort Worth homicide detective, where he showed us interrogation techniques with video examples. My professor encouraged me to take the film on a more comedic route, and in my opinion it made the whole film more entertaining as a result.
