A Dark Destiny
After a debilitating traumatic experience that leads to an even greater incident, a West Texas police chief battles with mental fatigue while continuing to try to protect and serve.
Wendy Pennington grew up in Dallas, TX, loving films, from Chaplin to Spielberg. Her first directorial effort came her senior year of high school where she won the top directing award as a theater major. She quickly moved out to Hollywood, CA, trained and worked as an actor for fourteen years, and observed and learned on every set.
She moved back to Dallas, and in 2012 opened up Improv Dallas. Her improvisation company is a successful training center for everyone from actors, to Corporate leaders, to national speakers. Wendy is the sole director and instructor and celebrates 10 years of success in September 2022.
Directing, writing and producing live improv shows, skits and short films began in 2015 and soon the awards rolled in. The films have shown in Paris, France, London, and the Los Angeles First Glance film festival where her short, “Service Animal,” won Best Film.
Now, her passion for storytelling has lead to Sundance Collab where her first feature film screenplay, a suspense/thriller, gained her acceptance into two programs: producing film and screenwriting.
With, “A DARK DESTINY,” she is happy to have collaborated with award winning Western novelist, John Layne, and showcase her new Sundance lessons.
This film marks the beginning of her production company, Gigaton Pictures.
Wendy is now a member of the Alliance of Women Directors and is directing films and commercials.

This film, “A DARK DESTINY,” is one I believe is important to bring to an audience in these modern times. The struggle of mental health affects all who experience trauma, including our law enforcement. After the capital riots, when two capital police committed suicide, I knew someone had to spotlight these regular human beings who are expected to be superhuman at low cost and low safety. Now, with the recent evil act in West Texas, this conversation resonates on a whole new level. Thank you for listening to and watching our film.
