Looking Back

George gets more than he bargained for when he discovers a ghost living in the backup camera of his new car.

Director Biography – Michael Charron

Michael sees the movie theater as a place where traditions are subverted–where the status quo gets turned on its head. And this is where his writing sensibilities lie–in taking an established concept or idea and finding a way to turn it into something unexpected. From slasher films where the “sexy girls” are the most competent ones to a rom-com where the meet cute takes place during casting for a snuff film, there’s no trope he’s unwilling to push to its limit.

Michael’s written more than a dozen feature films (and produced four of them) as well as written, directed, and produced a series of successful shorts. Michael has had several feature scripts both place as finalists and win in festivals and has had multiple short films win awards in recent years, including several that took top honors.

Director Statement

Genre is an interesting thing. I’ve spent the last 5 years making short comedies while doing my best to put a twist on the genre. From a pub trivia movie shot like a sports game to a thriller about a comedian with a puppet to a wild and crazy night comedy about gentrification… I’ve been telling silly stories in ways you wouldn’t expect.

This one started with an idea for a horror film, a ghost living in the backup camera of a car that can only be seen on the screen. And let’s be honest, that’s just inherently silly. So I had to find that twist, which led to the idea of taking a journey from drama to horror to comedy and ultimately back to the dramatic at the end. All in under nine minutes!

It’s fun, scary, sad, and somehow surprisingly sweet… exactly the weird type of film I like to make. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.
