When six year old Isabella is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer requiring an immediate and expensive transplant surgery, her father Carlos puts his life on the line to do whatever it takes to save her.
Mitsu is currently finishing up her bachelors degree in Television, Film, and New Media: Production at San Diego State University. Hailing from the state of Utah, her interests in film production began at a young age from witnessing her father on set as an actor. She writes and directs films that bring attention to current social issues. She recently wrote and directed a short film titled “Under the Law”, which was selected to premier at 14 festivals nationwide, and earning 1 award.
I wrote Mandatory Minimum with the intention of shedding light on the unjust system of the law, incarcerating minorities for non-violent, minimally involved crimes. My goal was to humanize a character who was involved with selling drugs, for the sole reason of saving his daughters life. I hope to put the audience in a “What would you do?” position.
