Set in the world of pageantry and perfection, Pageant Perfect follows a complicated relationship between a mother and daughter, as Vivian will do whatever it takes to make sure her daughter Desiree is the perfect pageant girl so she will take home the crown. After all, mother knows best….
Samantha McDanel is a filmmaker based in DFW. She studied Radio, Television, Film at University of North Texas. There, she primarily focused on writing, directing and editing, as well as all other roles that go into filmmaking. She is also well-known for her beauty and sfx makeup skills in North Texas. Samantha’s goal is to become an established director and woman filmmaker, and she plans to achieve this by continuing to better herself as a director, creator, and leader.
This film was a simple idea at first, but the more I sat and worked on it, it quickly became a much bigger and a true passion project to me. The story and the characters mean so much to me. It’s filled with themes, some that may not be immediately caught, and a complicated relationship between a mother and daughter. I knew that I could bring this story to life with the right team working with me and the perfect cast. I am so proud of how this film turned out.
