Prison Perspectives: Law Justice Redemption explores a variety of perspectives on the Texas correctional system. Highly regarded death penalty lawyer David Dow recounts his cases, US Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee comments on criminal justice reform, and an man convicted of first degree murder at age 16 revisits his past. Are all “dangerous criminals” one dimensional?
Prison Perspectives was filmed and edited by two undergraduate students at Rice University. Franz Brotzen, a native Houstonian, is a sophomore studying Political Science. Taylan Tuncata, originally from Washington DC, is a sophomore majoring in Computational and Applied Mathematics.
We chose not to follow a linear storyline. Instead, using the power of storytelling, we aim to interrogate our audience’s conception of what makes a “violent criminal.” Both Taylan and I hope to make more projects in the future – all feedback is greatly appreciated.
